Expanding community development and professional opportunities for Catholics in the United States!
|
CCHD funds a number of stipend-provided summer, semester, and year-long internships for Catholics in the United States to gain experience working with and on behalf of the poor. These internships occur in around thirty CCHD diocesan offices in the United States, as well as in the CCHD office of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and the office of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) in Washington, DC. |
CCHD internships combine practical work in carrying out the mandate of CCHD at the local level, opportunities to develop relationships with community leaders, reflection on Catholic social teaching, and opportunities for sharing the experience with other CCHD interns.
Who Should Apply?
CCHD internships are open to Catholics in the United States who have leadership abilities, community service experience, and effective writing/communication skills. Openness to the CCHD values of solidarity building, participation of the poor, and Catholic social teaching is essential.
Low-income people from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
For Applicants Who Are In School
All majors, undergraduate and graduate, are encouraged to apply. Some particularly relevant areas of study include business, communications, community or organizational development, human services, journalism, law, liberal arts, marketing, peace studies, political science, public service, religious studies/theology, social work, and sociology.
Time Commitment
In general, internship funding is for approximately 10-20 hours/week during the school year and 20-40 hours/week during the summer. However, the actual number of hours funded varies by diocese.
